Maigret of the Month: November, 2006

M reflects on his meeting with Georges Sim, as Georges Simenon called himself at that time, who came to the Quai des Orfèvres to write about the real police, and their eventual relationship. He talks about his father and his early life, how he met his wife. He describes some of his dissatisfaction with Simenon's portrait of him, and tries to clarify some points. He mentions his opinions of the various screen actors who portrayed him, and describes some of his early experiences with the Police force, and mentions some famous cases. He speaks of his eventual promotion to the Special Squad, and explains some of the 'contradictions' that appeared in some of Simenon's cases, following to some extent a list his wife has prepared.
