| International No Tobacco Day | Catalogue Number: 31 Stamp Design: Zdeno ·Brázdil Stamp Engraving: Martin Èinovský Date of Issue: May 31, 1994 Printing: Postal Stationery Printing House, Prague, Czech Republic Print Technology: Rotary-recess printing combined with recess printing Print Run: 5,450,000 Graphic Motif on FDC: International No Tobacco Day Symbol Cancellation Design: Zdeno Brázdil Printing: Kasico, a.s., Bratislava Print Technology: Offset FDC Print Run: 10,000 31st May, designated International No Tobacco Day by the World Health Organisation, provides the occasion for the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Public Works to issue a postage stamp on an anti-smoking theme. Its aim is to alert smokers, but especially the young and parents and teachers to the harmful effects of smoking. We hope that the issuing of this stamp - at the suggestion of the National Oncological Institute in Bratislava - will lend support to the worthy aims of the international fight against smoking and foster increased interest in health in general among all generations. It is our belief that the transmission of such a message through visual art may be more effective than any inventory of unpleasant facts. |
