David Drake's Addenda

This chart has gone through several stages of evolution. When Guido de Croock first presented it, there were only 29 "out-of-Paris" entries. David Drake then made a case for six additional entries, which were appended as "Drake's Addenda". These included Félicie est là (near Poisey), "Vente à la bougie" (Vendée), "Jeumont, 51 minutes d'arrêt" (Jeumont), and "Le témoinage de l'enfant de chœur", which Dave suggested was probably set in Luçon. In addition, he listed two set in Neuilly, Maigret et la Grande Perche and "M. Lundi", explaining that he considered any setting where Maigret operated "outside of his jurisdiction" as an "out-of-Paris" story. De Croock responded to that addenda by adding Drake's main four to his list, but provided evidence for Nantes as the probable setting for "Le témoinage de l'enfant de chœur", which Drake found equally convincing. De Croock kept the Neuilly settings as separate from "out-of-Paris", maintaining that they were essentially Paris stories. When Oz Childs reported that in fact Neuilly was in Maigret's jurisdiction, Drake went along with de Croock's analysis, and the result is the above table. Dave summarized the Maigret cases as 64 set in Paris, 33 in France but outside of Paris, and 5 in other countries, a total of 102 plus "Maigret's Memoirs".
