Born in January 19, 1809 in Boston, Edgar Allan Poe, is considered as one of the precursors of the detective-fiction genre and the modern fantasy. Poet, novelist, drama writer, literary critic and editor, his collection of tales among which the best known are �The purloined letter� and �The murders in the Rue Morgue,� have been translated into French and gathered by Charles Baudelaire.
