Subject: Early children's and illustrated books: a bibliography

Follows my list of "essential" references for EARLY children's and illustrated books (genenerally pre 1940). I hope someone who deals in comtemporary children's books will list their references.
But first:
This list is not inclusive. I did not include single author/illustrator bibliographies, price guides, or books on limited subjects.
All books listed are in my library and I would be happy to answer questions or give more details if asked.
I have listed the books in the order of general use. In other words, the ones I have my hands on most are listed first.
Finally, the list is in two parts. The first are references that I find helpful in looking up the collected works of an author, determining first editions/states or just finding author names. The second are books of general collecting/selling interest which I believe help to "learn" about this speciality. I have drawn a line between the two parts.
